Start-to-finish victory for Tina Fischl at the Freudensee Run in Hauzenberg

Beaming faces and fast legs around Lake Freudensee: athlete Tina Fischl delivered an impressive performance at this year’s 5-kilometer Freudensee Run in Hauzenberg.

On the demanding cross-country course, which due to adverse weather conditions consisted of three partly muddy laps around lake Freudensee, the 49-year-old dominated the field from the beginning. Shortly after the start, she pulled away from her opponents and celebrated a commanding start-to-finish victory against significantly younger competitors.

Tina Fischl completed the three laps, totalling 4.9km, in a time of 18:27 min. Anna Drexler came in second in 19:44 min, ahead of Martha Weber, who crossed the finish line in 19:51 min.

“I was able to really push hard right from the start and felt great. Despite the difficult conditions, it was a really enjoyable race”, said Fischl happily at the finish line.

Immediately afterwards, Fischl also took part in the relay race, where she competed for the Wellnesshotel Reischlhof team alongside Thomas Hafner and her husband Alex. The trio put in a strong team performance and ultimately took second place in the overall relay standings.

Zwölferhorn – Vertical Up – St. Gilgen

Tina Fischl wins the Zwölferhorn mountain run in commanding fashion

Once again, she has proven her exceptional talent in mountain running: Tina Fischl from WSV Otterskirchen won the extreme Vertical Up race up the Zwölferhorn (1,522m above sea level) in impressive fashion on Saturday. On the route, which was only four kilometres long but featured an elevation gain of almost 1,000 meters, the 49-year-old extreme runner gave her competitors no chance and secured victory in the women’s race with a lead of around three minutes.

Fischl went on the offensive right from the start. “I had a very good feeling from the start and was able to pull away early on. None of the girls could keep up with me”, she reported happily after the race. She took the lead after the first steep section and continuously extended it.

Second place went to last year’s winner Katarina Lovrantova from Slovenia, ahead of Sabrina Papst from Austria, neither of whom were able to match the fast pace set by the Fürstenstein native at any point.

“I knew that I could control the race if I found my rhythm”, said the personal trainer.

Despite the extreme conditions, Tina Fischl was enthusiastic about the competition: The weather was cool, windy, rainy and foggy in the finish area, but “perfect” for running.

Not only is the way Fischl dominated remarkable, but also her age: at 49 she left a significantly younger field of competitors behind her. “This shows that experience, mental strength, and passion are crucial in mountain running”, she emphasized with a smile.

With this success, Fischl once again underlines her class in extreme running and confirms her consistently strong form.
