Tina Fischl wins the Zwölferhorn Mountain Run in St. Gilgen once again
50-year-old athlete from WSV Otterskirchen leaves the entire women’s field behind at the prestigious Austrian mountain race, securing victory by a comfortable margin.
Mountain runner Tina Fischl from Fürstenstein has once again demonstrated her impressive strength and endurance. Competing for WSV Otterskirchen, she claimed victory at the Zwölferhorn Mountain Run in St. Gilgen on Lake Wolfgang, securing her third win in three appearances at the event.
On the demanding 4.3-kilometer course featuring approximately 910 meters of elevation gain, Fischl took the lead early and crossed the finish line as the fastest woman in 42 minutes and 49 seconds. She finished almost two minutes ahead of Austria’s Elisabeth Muhr in second place, while Lena Füssl secured third.
The steep mountain course, with very few opportunities for recovery, suits Fischl’s strength perfectly. She has won the women’s classification in all three of her participations to date. Fischl also looks back on a highly successful mountain running career. She has been crowned German Mountain Running Champion, represented the German national team for three years, and won several Bavarian championship titles. Mountain running remains one of her greatest sporting passions to this day.
