Night Run Deggendorf – Tina wins again

Tina Fischl claims thrilling victory at the Night Run in Deggendorf

Three women, two seconds and an exciting battle right to the finish line: Tina Fischl of WSV Otterskirchen celebrated the overall women’s victory in the five-kilometer race at the Night Run & Beats event in Deggendorf. The 50-year-old personal trainer from Fürstensteincrossed the finish line in 18:31.37 minutes, prevailing against significantly younger competitors.

With more than 1,400 participants and hundreds of spectators lining the course, the race through Deggendorf’s city center provided an exceptional atmosphere. For Fischl, the competition turned into a thrilling contest from the very beginning.

Despite the hectic start, the WSV Otterskirchen runner got away well and initially took the lead in the women’s field. However, Sabine Wallner of WSV Rabenstein and Joahnna Fenzl of Ski & Bike Deggendorf matched the pace and refused to let Fischl pull away. The trio stayed together throughout the five kilometers, with the lead changing hands several times.

During the second and final lap, Fischl reclaimed the lead. Encouraged by the enthusiastic crowd, she fought to keep her two younger rivals behind her. None of the three athletes could afford even the slightest mistake, as the gaps between them were incredibly small.

The final decision came only in the closing meters of the race. Fischl reached the finish in 18:31.37 minutes, followed by Waller just 0.78 seconds later in 18:32.15 minutes. Fenzl completed the podium in 18:33.06 minutes, only 0.91 seconds behind second place. This meant that just 1.69 seconds separated the winner from the third-place finisher.

For the 50-year-old athlete, the overall victory was particularly meaningful. Defeating two much younger runners in such a close head-to-head race was by no means something she took for granted. All the greater was her pride in the achievement and her gratitude that her body continues to allow such high-level performances. In addition to the overall victory, Fischl also won the Women 40+ age category. Wallner claimed first place in the Women 30+ category, while Frenzl won the Women 20+ category.
