Tina Fischl fights her way to second place at the Lipno Sports Festival
With a spirit of adventure and sporting ambition, Tina Fischl from WSV Otterskirchen took part in the Lipno Sports Festival at the Moldova Reservoir in the Czech Republic. She had no idea that it would turn out to be a surprise race since she hadn’t translated the announcement. All she knew was that it would be around ten kilometers with an elevation gain of 350 meters.
After the start, it turned out to be challenging trail run over ski slopes, a viewing tower, a treetop path, and a technical downhill section. The first long climb already sorted the field. Fischl was initially in fourth place but steadily fought her way forward. On the final climb to the treetop path, she took second place and defended it confidently to the finish line – behind the multiple Czech champion and only six men.
For Tina Fischl, it was not only a sporting success, but also a very special experience: “A competition where you only realize what you’ve gotten yourself into during the race – that doesn’t happen to me very often. But maybe I should try surprise races more often!?”
